Pipe fitters (FQ) who have completed the Further vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology are able to manage the piping and equipment installations related to HPAC systems at construction sites or, alternatively, carry out fault detection, service and repair measures related to the functioning of HPAC systems. They are able to carry out a pipe fitting assignment according to applicable timetable and quality requirements.

Heating equipment fitters (FQ) who have completed the Further vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology are able to carry out the electrical, piping and equipment installations related to heating equipment of properties and small-scale production processes and carry out the related service and repair measures. They are able to independently implement the installation and introduction of heating systems according to applicable timetable and quality requirements. Heating equipment fitters (FQ) install and service heating equipment both at building sites and in existing properties.

Ventilation fitters (FQ) and ventilation sheet-metal workers (FQ) who have completed the Further vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology are able to install duct systems and equipment related to building ventilation systems and carry out the repairs related to the functioning of ventilation systems. They are able to perform the installations independently according to the applicable timetable and quality requirements.

Ventilation system cleaners (FQ) who have completed the Further vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology are able to carry out work related to the cleaning and adjustment of building ventilation systems and indoor climate measurements. They are able to independently plan and carry out the measures related to the work.

Construction sheet-metal workers (FQ) who have completed the Further vocational qualification in Building Management Technology are capable of making and fitting sheet-metal parts of buildings. Holders of the Further vocational qualification in Machine Mechanics and Maintenance have the vocational skills required in performing diverse mechanical installation and maintenance tasks independently. They have strong skills in the installation, servicing and repairing of machines and equipment. They prepare for the installation and maintenance tasks carefully, perform the required measures and take care of the documentation of the work and handing it over to the customer. They function as experts of their field in the work community and work actively with different stakeholders.

Further Vocational Qualification in Production Technology

Valid from 1.1.2019

Holders of the Further vocational qualification in Production Technology are able to work in production economically and according to the quality objectives. They know how to work responsibly and safely while also taking care of occupational safety, occupational wellbeing and environmental matters in their work and observe the operating practices in working life, the given instructions and the standards of their field. They have a good overall understanding of the manufacturing process in their competence area. They are able to use the machines, equipment and materials required in their work and take advantage of the opportunities provided by automation and digitalisation. They are able to assess and develop their own work and provide guidance in the operating practices and tasks of their field.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in Sheet Metal and Welding Technology are able to work independently in manufacture in the welding industry. They are able to make steel structures, elements of structures or their parts in accordance with the requirements, and have the qualification required in their work.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in Machining are able to work independently in manufacture in the machining industry. They are able to programme and use CNC machines to make precise and diverse objects according to machine shop drawings, utilising 3D CAM software.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in Glass and Ceramics are able to work independently in product manufacture and in tasks related to installation and repairs of products.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in Plastics and Rubber Technology are able to work independently in tasks related to the manufacture and quality control of products.

Further Vocational Qualification in Property Management

Valid from 1.1.2018

Holders of a Further Vocational Qualification in Property Management are skilled in looking after the administration, finances, and technical life cycle of properties following an annual calendar and a strategy agreed upon with the customer or the owner. They are able to see to contractual issues, document practices, and notifications to authorities related to a site they manage. Qualification holders know how to take care of risk management, customer services, and communication, and they develop their own activities using up-to-date working methods.

Depending on the optional units selected, qualification holders specialise in managing housing companies, rental properties or business premises. Qualification holders have also deepened their competence in the provision of housing advice, technical services, or management of a newly built property, or by planning a development project associated with property management work.

Further Vocational Qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector

Holders of the Further Vocational Qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector have the vocational skills required to work in the sector according to their competence area and job description. Qualification holders are able to work independently in the work tasks of the motor vehicle sector, taking into account the legislation, decrees and orders that regulate the sector. They carry out their work carefully and professionally. They know how to plan and organise the activities in their area of responsibility in a quality-conscious and cost-effective manner and comply with labour legislation, the regulations concerning occupational safety and the environment and other instructions concerning the quality management system and the work environment. Qualification holders have an overall view of the motor vehicles sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role in carrying out work tasks in the sector.

The following competence areas can be chosen in the Further Vocational Qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector: Competence area in Customer Services and Sales Work, Competence area in Vehicle Repair Services; Competence area in Damage Repairs, Competence area in Management or Competence area in Tyre Services.

Based on their job description, students choose the required units from the compulsory and optional units of the competence area so that the competence points total at least 150. Qualification holders are able to work in tasks that match their job description in the motor vehicle sector, developing their own vocational skills and the operation of their organisation.

Specialist Vocational Qualification in Building Maintenance Technology

Pipe fitters (SQ) who have completed the Specialist vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology are able to take responsibility for the practical arrangements of a pipe fitting contract and tasks related to the quality management of pipe fitting at construction sites. They also know how to maintain contact with the authorities and collaborate with other stakeholder groups.

Ventilation fitters (SQ) who have completed the Specialist vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology are able to take responsibility for the practical arrangements of ventilation fitting contracts and tasks related to the quality management of the installation of ventilation systems at construction sites. They also know how to maintain contact with the authorities and collaborate with other stakeholder groups.

Construction sheet-metal workers (SQ) who have completed the Specialist vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology have the practical competence required for tasks related to arranging a construction metal-sheet work contract or technical insulation and their quality management at building construction or renovation work sites. They are capable of guiding a group of fitters and taking responsibility for the group's activities. In addition, they master the communication related to the construction site, to the stakeholders of the construction site and to official regulations.

Chimney sweeps (SQ) who have completed the Specialist vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology are able to work as experts of their sector in issues related to fire and housing safety in addition to the traditional chimney sweeping work. They have extensive knowledge of heating technology: combustion, arrangements for replacement air, fuels, heating equipment and their energy efficiency. They master the methods that contribute to the economical use of energy by heating equipment and protecting the environment and are able to present solution models to improve these. They have good knowledge and skills regarding the planning of the operation of a chimney sweeping business and the development of business activities.

In the Competence area in Refrigeration Technology of the Specialist vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology, the competence required from professionals of refrigeration technology is demonstrated by working independently as a member of the work community in technical clerical tasks in the refrigeration field. Refrigeration planners who have completed a specialist vocational qualification work with customers and stakeholders in the operating environment and work tasks of the refrigeration field. Qualification holders utilise their broad theoretical knowledge and serve as experts of refrigeration technology to the company's employees and to customers in the refrigeration field. They plan and design refrigeration equipment that fulfils the customer's cooling and heating needs and prepare a quote for the customer. Specialist vocational qualification in First-Level Management in Production

The Specialist vocational qualification in First-Level Management in Production (180 competence points) is intended for persons who work in supervisory and managerial positions in the industrial and production sectors and want to develop their competence. The Specialist Qualification in First-Level Management in Production consists of a compulsory unit (80 competence points) and optional units (100 competence points).

Qualification holders are able to manage the personnel of their area of responsibility, manage the production work in their area of responsibility, work in accordance with the safety instructions and environmental guidelines in their organisation and develop their supervisory skills.

Holders of the Qualification in First-Level Management in Production have the knowledge and skills required in the special areas of their chosen units. The competence related to the optional units may be related to production management, development of the personnel's competence, management of maintenance work in production, project management in a production environment or safety and environmental management in production.

Specialist vocational qualification in Machine Mechanics and Maintenance

Holders of the Specialist Qualification in Machine Mechanics and Maintenance have the vocational skills required for ensuring the high quality of work and the achievement of the financial targets set for working. They calculate the costs of the site and plan the required equipment and employee resources. They take into account the safety factors related to the work environment, machines and equipment and their operation.

Specialist Vocational Qualification in Property Management

Valid from 1.1.2018

Holders of the specialist vocational qualification in property management are capable of assuming the overall responsibility for the operation and development of properties in collaboration with customers and stakeholders and abiding by an agreed-upon strategy. They know how to manage the administration, finances, and technical life cycle of a demanding site in a goal-oriented manner. They know how to prepare a service plan for a site, manage a service network, communicate interactively, and produce positive customer experiences and added value for the stakeholders.

Depending on the optional units selected, qualification holders have particularly strong competence in developing property management, management of renovation and repair projects, or business management.

Specialist vocational qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector

The scope of the Specialist vocational qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector is 180 competence points. The qualification comprises four competence areas:

  • Competence area of First-Level Management in the Motor Vehicle Sector,
  • Competence area of Vehicle Repair Services,
  • Competence area of Damage Repairs and
  • Competence area of Customer Services and Sales Work.

Based on their competence area and job description, holders of the Specialist vocational qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector have the vocational skills required to work in the sector. Qualification holders are able to work independently in the work tasks of the motor vehicle sector, taking into account the legislation, decrees and orders that regulate the sector. They carry out their work carefully and professionally. They know how to plan and organise the activities in their area of responsibility in a quality-conscious and cost-effective manner and comply with labour legislation, the regulations concerning occupational safety and the environment and other instructions concerning the quality management system and the work environment. Qualification holders have an overall view of the motor vehicles sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role in carrying out work tasks in the sector.

Candidates choose the required units from the compulsory and optional units of the competence area according to their job description so that the competence points reach the total of 180.

Vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology

Pipe fitters are able to use the basic tools of the sector and correct techniques, select the right brackets and other materials for each site and complete ordinary pipe installations. They are able to work independently and in a quality-conscious, customer service oriented and co-operative manner. Ventilation fitters know how to complete channel and equipment installations associated with ventilation systems in new buildings following drawings and work instructions and make channel components for ventilation systems. They are able to use the basic tools of the sector and correct techniques, and select the right brackets and other materials for each site. Construction sheet-metal workers know how to install metal roofing and façades of buildings following drawings and installation instructions as well as install sheet metal components on building façades and felt, tile and profile elements on roofs and perform sheet metal work on seam roofs. They are able to use the basic tools of the sector and correct techniques and select the right materials for each site. Technical insulation fitters know how to perform insulation work on devices related to HVAC technology and on piping. They install insulation and coatings associated with heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems, use the basic tools and correct techniques of the sector, and select the right materials for each site. Refrigeration fitters know how to install the equipment and pipes of a refrigeration unit following drawings and work instructions, use the basic tools of the sector and correct techniques, and select the right insulation and other materials for each site.

Vocational Qualification in Mechanical Engineering and Production Technology

Competence area in Production Technology, Machinist

Machinists can make components of machines and other parts in accordance with working drawings by machining, utilising automatic machine tools. They can plan the order of the different work stages of the manufacturing process and use the materials, machines, equipment, and methods of the field appropriately and safely in their work. Machinists are also responsible for the quality of the products they have made and for the correct controls and operation of the machines they use. They are able to programme a CNC machine tool and use it in manufacturing.

Competence area in Assembly and Automation, Mechanical Fitter

Mechanical fitters can assemble and install mechanical machines and equipment. They are able to carry out machine installations in the correct order and using the correct methods with the help of work instructions and drawings. Mechanical fitters are able to inspect the parts and components that are to be installed, carry out the required checks and adjustments and do the required documentation. They are familiar with the structures and operation of machines and equipment, are able to use materials and different assembly methods appropriately and safely in their work. Mechanical fitters area able to apply mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics in their work. They are able to install machines and equipment, service them, and participate in the introduction and repairs of equipment.

Competence area in Assembly and Automation, Automation Assembler

Automation assemblers can assemble and install automation equipment and their components. They are familiar with the structures and operation of the components and equipment in machine automation and can use the materials and different installation methods safely and appropriately in their work. Automation assemblers are able to apply mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical engineering in electromechanical installations. They are able to carry out mechanical and electromechanical installations in the correct order and using the correct methods safely with the help of work instructions and drawings. Automation assemblers are able to check the parts and components to be installed and carry out the necessary adjustments, controls, and programming and do the related documentation. They participate in the introduction, services and repairs of equipment.

Competence area in Production Technology, Plater-welder

Plater-welders can plan and do plate work, welding, and work on metal structures according to drawings, using modern manufacturing methods. They can plan the order of the different work stages of the manufacturing process and use the materials, machines, equipment, and methods of the field appropriately and safely in their work. They have acquired the competences and passed the tests required for their occupation. They are also responsible for the quality of the product they have manufactured and the correct controls and operation of the machines they use.

Competence area in Production Technology, Maker of Plastic and Rubber Products

Makers of plastic and rubber products know the production techniques and manufacturing methods of their field and are familiar with the used materials. Qualifications holders are able to work in tasks related to the manufacture, testing, and quality control of products, to servicing and maintenance of the machines they use and to warehousing activities. They are able to work economically and safely in production and in the work community and make sure their work is of good quality.

Holders of a vocational qualification in the motor vehicles sector who have completed the competence area of sales work have the basic competence required in customer service and sales tasks. Qualification holders are able to work independently in customer service and sales tasks, taking into account the acts, decrees and regulations governing the sector. In the customer services and sales tasks, they take into account occupational safety, risk management and human factors. Qualification holders have an overall view of the motor vehicles sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role as a provider of customer-oriented services and sales work in the sector.

Candidates may specialise in the sales of vehicles, maintenance or spare parts. High-quality customer service and technical expertise have a key role in the competence area. In their work, they act carefully and observe the labour legislation, occupational safety and environmental regulations, and other instructions concerning the work environment.
