The core competences of joiners include carrying out joinery tasks safely, planning the implementation of the work with the help of drawings and work instructions, the skill to appropriately use the materials and processed wood products of the wood industry, familiarity with and consideration of the properties and behaviour of wood in making joinery products, command of the use of the basic machines used in the joinery industry to make different joinery products, and command of the modern industrial manufacturing technology.

Competence area of the Board Industry, Board Process Operator

The core competences of board process operators include carrying out safely their chosen work tasks in the board industry, performing condition monitoring and ensuring that the process runs without malfunctions. They have an overall understanding of the production process of boards and the quality of the products and are able to take into consideration the structure, properties and defects of wood when machining it.

Competence area of the Sawmill Industry, Sawmill Process Operator

The core competence of sawmill process operators includes carrying out safely their chosen work tasks in the sawmill industry, performing condition monitoring and ensuring that the process runs without malfunctions. They have an overall understanding of the production process and further processing of sawn timber and the quality of the products. They are also able to take into consideration the structure, properties and defects of wood when machining it.

Competence area of the Timber Structure Industry, Industrial Carpenter

The core competences of industrial carpenters include carrying out work tasks safely in the timber structure industry, planning the implementation of the work with the help of drawings and work instructions, the skill to appropriately use the materials of the wood industry, familiarity with and consideration of the properties and behaviour of wood in the manufacture of structural wood products, command of the use of the basic machines used in the timber structure industry to make different industrial structural wood products and command of the modern industrial manufacturing technology.

Holders of the further vocational qualification in the Wood Industry have the vocational skills required for working in the wood industry. Qualification holders act responsibly and economically and in accordance with the quality targets and are able to comply with the instructions and operating practices of the workplace. They know how to work safely in the operating environment of the competence area they have completed. They have a good overall understanding of the production processes and raw materials in their competence area and of the requirements final use sets for the product.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Board Industry are able to work independently in operating and monitoring tasks in several processes chosen by them in the board industry. They are able to monitor the condition of the equipment, ensure that processes run without malfunctions and determine the causes of possible malfunctions.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Timber Structure Industry are able to work independently in the work tasks of their field. They are able to make products that are manufactured in the timber structure industry.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Joinery Industry are able to work independently in the work tasks of their field. They are able to make joinery products using materials, processed products and supplies.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Sawmill Industry are able to work independently in operating and monitoring tasks in several processes chosen by them in the sawmill industry or in further processing of sawn timber. They are able to monitor the condition of the equipment, ensure that processes run without malfunctions and determine the causes of possible malfunctions.

Specialist Vocational Qualification in the Wood Industry

Holders of the specialist vocational qualification in the wood industry have the vocational skills required for working in the wood industry. Qualification holders are able to work responsibly and economically in accordance with the quality targets and comply with the instructions and operating practices of the workplace. They are able to act safely in the operating environments of the competence areas they have completed and provide guidance in the operating practices and operating system of the workplace.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Mechanical Forest Industry can work in supervisory, planning and development tasks in the mechanical forest industry according to the choices they have made. They have a good overall understanding of the production process, the raw material and the requirements set by final use.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Joinery Industry are able to work independently in demanding work tasks of their field. They can plan and supervise work tasks in their area of responsibility. They develop the activities in their area of responsibility using their good overall understanding of the materials, manufacturing processes and services in the joinery industry.
