Vocational Qualification in Laboratory Technology
Holders of a vocational qualification in laboratory technology are able to work as laboratory technicians in the laboratories of different industrial sectors, research centres and the public sector. Laboratory technicians’ work tasks are related to quality control, product development, research and industrial processes. They know how to perform chemical, physical, biochemical, microbiological and sensory analyses and handle different samples. Laboratory technicians also know how to choose appropriate chemicals, instruments and equipment for their work and are able to use and service them according to instructions.
They observe the work, operating and safety instructions and work in accordance with the laboratory’s quality and environmental systems and in an accountable manner. They make use of information technology in their work and know how to assess the reliability or the results and their own work performance. They are able to develop their vocational skills and work performance by means of good basic knowledge in mathematics and natural sciences.
