Vocational Qualification in Safety and Security

Holders of a vocational qualification in safety and security have extensive vocational skills for working in the safety and security sector. They have deeper competence in security guarding, maintenance of public order, rescue activities or security technology. Qualification holders pay attention to the legislation concerning their work, know the official organisations in the safety and security sector and can operate naturally in a multicultural environment. They master the obligations belonging to members of their work community, the rules of the world of work and the use of force allowed to security guards and/or safety stewards.

Further Vocational Qualification in the Security Sector

Holders of the further vocational qualification in the security sector are familiar with private security sector tasks and services, the rights and duties associated with performing them and, as far as necessary, legislation related to security sector tasks. They are familiar with the authorities relevant to the tasks in the private security sector, the core tasks of these organisations, and the different areas of corporate security. They are aware of the risks associated with private security sector tasks and the most common exceptional situations and know how to observe the requirements of occupational safety. They are also aware of the impacts that different environments have on the nature of the activities in terms of the tasks to be performed, situations encountered, and relevant legislation.

Holders of the further vocational qualification in the security sector understand that their occupation is about customer service and know what to do in situations involving accidental damage, problems, or conflicts. They have a strong command of the basics of interaction skills as well as verbal and nonverbal communication and draw on these abilities in their work.

Holders of the further vocational qualification in the security sector have basic knowledge of structural safety, technical supervision, and different surveillance methods in buildings. They are familiar with technical security and communication systems, structural safety, and surveillance of individuals. They know how to draw up the documents needed in their work and are familiar with the principles of reporting. They are familiar with the necessary security equipment and coercive devices.

Holders of the further vocational qualification in the security sector have mastered the basics of rescue activities and preparing for emergency conditions. They are familiar with the basics of fire safety and know what to do and how to minimise damage in fire prevention, in case of a potential fire and in prevention of secondary effects. They also recognise the labelling and know the properties of the most common hazardous substances. Additionally, they are able to administer life-preserving and psychological first aid.
