Holders of a Further vocational qualification in Infrastructure Construction have the vocational skills needed in work related to infrastructure construction. Qualification holders have mastered the rules and principles of operating in a work community and the environmental perspectives and impacts of their work. They are familiar with different ground types, the methods of infrastructure construction and the conditions affecting them, the materials used in infrastructure construction and the purposes for which they are used. Qualification holders are able to apply their specialist skills to making decisions in their work tasks, plan their work while taking into account the measures and work carried out by others and consider the overall situation at the site.

Further vocational qualification in Land Surveying

Further Vocational Qualification in the Transport Sector

Qualification holders have an overall view of the transport sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role as a provider of customer-oriented services in the transport sector. Depending on the competence area, the services and the competence may be different transport services or tasks closely related to transports.

Qualification holders who have completed the competence area in Service transports, Goods transports, Forest industry transports and Transport of passengers are able to work as members of a team, promoting the profitability and smooth operation of the activities. They know now to work in depots and terminal areas built for different vehicles. They know the roadworthiness requirements of vehicles and the need for and importance of servicing of vehicles.

Qualification holders are able to drive, load and handle the load of the vehicle required in the chosen unit, master the equipment of the vehicle, the permits required for the type of transport and the drawing up of documents. They comply with the occupational safety regulations. Qualification holders know how to act in customer service situations. They use the required means of communication and information technology, can drive a car safely and economically and act according to regulations. Qualification holders master a proactive way of driving during different weather conditions and unexpected events and know how to act correctly in road traffic accidents and other accidents. They know the responsibilities and obligations of employees and employers.

Qualification holders who have completed the competence area in Supervision of work in the transport sector, have the competence needed in supervisory tasks in the transport sector. Qualification holders are able to work independently as supervisors, taking into account the acts, decrees and orders that regulate the transport sector. Holders of the further vocational qualification in the Wood Industry have the vocational skills required for working in the wood industry. Qualification holders act responsibly and economically and in accordance with the quality targets and are able to comply with the instructions and operating practices of the workplace. They know how to work safely in the operating environment of the competence area they have completed. They have a good overall understanding of the production processes and raw materials in their competence area and of the requirements final use sets for the product.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Board Industry are able to work independently in operating and monitoring tasks in several processes chosen by them in the board industry. They are able to monitor the condition of the equipment, ensure that processes run without malfunctions and determine the causes of possible malfunctions.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Timber Structure Industry are able to work independently in the work tasks of their field. They are able to make products that are manufactured in the timber structure industry.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Joinery Industry are able to work independently in the work tasks of their field. They are able to make joinery products using materials, processed products and supplies.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Sawmill Industry are able to work independently in operating and monitoring tasks in several processes chosen by them in the sawmill industry or in further processing of sawn timber. They are able to monitor the condition of the equipment, ensure that processes run without malfunctions and determine the causes of possible malfunctions.

Specialist Vocational Qualification in Infrastructure Construction

Qualification holders are able to do quality work in infrastructure construction sites independently, economically, and expeditiously. They are familiar with the soil, the practices of infrastructure construction and the conditions that might influence them as well as the materials of infrastructure construction and their uses. They know how to apply their expertise in finding solutions to their tasks and plan their work accounting for others’ procedures and work. They are able to take stock of the big picture of the construction site and work in cooperation with their co-workers, superiors, and customers. They are able to work safely and skilfully in an infrastructure construction site, and has a strong command of the skills and information from the units they have completed. They know how to listen to instructions and interpret drawings and plans. They are able to use the correct methods and equipment and service the equipment they need. They handle and store the equipment and materials according to instructions. They have sufficient language skills, and they have obtained the required safety cards by completing the respective training courses.

Specialist Vocational Qualification in the Wood Industry

Holders of the specialist vocational qualification in the wood industry have the vocational skills required for working in the wood industry. Qualification holders are able to work responsibly and economically in accordance with the quality targets and comply with the instructions and operating practices of the workplace. They are able to act safely in the operating environments of the competence areas they have completed and provide guidance in the operating practices and operating system of the workplace.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Mechanical Forest Industry can work in supervisory, planning and development tasks in the mechanical forest industry according to the choices they have made. They have a good overall understanding of the production process, the raw material and the requirements set by final use.

Qualification holders who have completed the Competence area in the Joinery Industry are able to work independently in demanding work tasks of their field. They can plan and supervise work tasks in their area of responsibility. They develop the activities in their area of responsibility using their good overall understanding of the materials, manufacturing processes and services in the joinery industry.

Vocational qualification in Construction

Valid from 1.8.2022

Qualification holders who have completed the competence area of construction are able to perform foundation stage tasks on a building construction site and know how to perform work on outer and partition walls as well as roof framing tasks, including laying insulation, following plans and documents. They know how to use the basic tools of the construction site as well as correct working methods and materials. They work independently and in a quality-conscious, customer serviceoriented and co-operative manner. Qualification holders who have completed the competence area of masonry know how to make stone products, install stone products or quarry natural stone. Following drawings, they are able to make different construction stone products for interior decoration, façades and environmental and garden construction, build foundation structures for stonework according to plans, lay interior decoration stones, façade stones, and environmental and garden stones as well as build fireplaces. The candidates have knowledge of the basics of geology and excavation technology, and they work independently and in a quality-conscious, customer service-oriented and co-operative manner. Qualification holders who have completed the competence area of infrastructure construction are able to perform work on an ordinary infrastructure construction site and municipal engineering work, such as building surface drainage and waste water systems as well as water supply systems and their equipment. They know how to operate machinery in excavation work and are able to use the basic tools of a construction site as well as correct working methods and materials. Qualification holders who have completed the competence area of earthmover operation can use at least one earthmoving machine safely and in compliance with instructions and regulations on ordinary earthmoving sites. They know how to carry out the most typical measurement and marking tasks on excavation sites and are able to use the basic tools of a construction site as well as correct working methods and materials.

Vocational Qualification in Land Surveying

Lorry drivers and articulated vehicle drivers work in a service profession and in their way of driving take into account how the load affects driving. They can act safely, economically and responsibly in traffic, anticipating different situations that occur in traffic. When loading and unloading, lorry drivers can use a forklift or a work machine and the equipment used for securing loads. They comply with occupational safety requirements and the occupational safety requirements and instructions of the customers of transport companies. They master safe transport in different kinds of areas, when loading or unloading the load of the vehicle.
