Vocational Qualification in Cleaning and Property Services (1.8.2018) | Competence area of Property Maintenance

Qualification holders are able to work in cleaning and property services tasks at customer sites and in customer service situations according to the service agreement applying to the customer site. Qualification holders may specialise in property maintenance, household services, or site facilities services according to their competence area.

Depending on the optional units they have chosen, qualification holders are able to plan and implement cleaning services at different customer sites including residential properties, hotel and other accommodation facilities, shopping centres and store facilities, special situations at home, means of transport, healthcare institutions, industrial plants, healthcare facilities, or swimming pool and spa facilities.

In addition, through optional units qualification holders may specialise in the production of assistance services, provision of assistance for using different services, management of building technology systems, operation of building automation, production of food home delivery services, basic cleaning services, maintenance cleaning services, maintenance of garden and outdoor areas, clothes and textile care, maintenance of HVAC systems, and workplace instructing.

The vocational qualification in cleaning and property services comprises three competence areas (the competence areas of property maintenance, household services, and site facilities services). The qualification title in the competence area of property maintenance is property maintenance operative (VQ). The qualification title in the competence area of household services is housekeeper (VQ). The qualification title in the competence area of site facilities services is site facilities operative (VQ).

The qualification is composed of one compulsory unit (15 competence points), two optional units in the competence area (60 competence points), optional units (70 competence points), and common units (35 competence points). The scope of the qualification is 180 competence points. The compulsory unit is Production of customer-oriented cleaning and property services. The qualification comprises a total of 27 optional units, which include a unit from another vocational, further, or specialist qualification.

A unit based on local competence requirements
The unit contains competence that meets local labour market needs. The competence must be suitable for the needs of more than one workplace. The education provider names the unit on the basis of operational entities in the world of work and determines its scope in competence points. The education provider defines the competence requirements and the assessment of competence in a similar manner as for vocational units.

A unit from another vocational qualification, further vocational qualification or specialist vocational qualification can be included in the qualification. Regardless of the scope of the unit to be included in the qualification, its maximum scope in this case is 15 competence points.

COMMON UNITS

The scope of communication and interaction competence is at least 11 competence points, the scope of mathematics and science competence at least 6 competence points, and the scope of citizenship and working life competence at least 9 competence points. The common units must also contain optional targeted learning outcomes from one of several common units and part(s) of units selected by the student, making up the scope of 35 competence points of common units.

Optional targeted learning outcomes of common units

The optional targeted learning outcomes of common units may be other optional targeted learning outcomes determined in the qualification requirements or decided by the education provider that support the outcomes determined for that unit and its parts in the qualification requirements. The student's prior learning may also be included in optional targeted learning outcomes if it supports the targeted learning outcomes determined for that unit and its parts in the qualification requirements.
