Holders of the vocational qualification in media and visual expression are capable of working in diverse tasks in the field of media and visual expression. Qualification holders know the operating environment of media and have the capabilities to perform a myriad of tasks in different working environments. Both people with a broad range of vocational skills and specialists in vocational skills are needed in the field of media and visual expression. Qualification holders generally possess broad capabilities in their own competence area, but they may also specialise in a specific sub-area of their competence area.

The scope of the vocational qualification in media and visual expression in 180 competence points. The qualification is composed of vocational units (145 competence points) and common units (35 competence points). The common units are: communication and interaction skills, skills in mathematics and natural sciences, and knowledge of society and working life skills.
The vocational qualification in media and visual expression comprises four competence areas:
- competence area of audiovisual communication
- competence area of publication production
- competence area of graphic communication
- competence area of visual expression.
The qualification titles are Implementer of media services and Implementer of visual expression.
