Further Vocational Qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector

Valid from 1.8.2018

Holders of the Further Vocational Qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector have the vocational skills required to work in the sector according to their competence area and job description. Qualification holders are able to work independently in the work tasks of the motor vehicle sector, taking into account the legislation, decrees and orders that regulate the sector. They carry out their work carefully and professionally. They know how to plan and organise the activities in their area of responsibility in a quality-conscious and cost-effective manner and comply with labour legislation, the regulations concerning occupational safety and the environment and other instructions concerning the quality management system and the work environment. Qualification holders have an overall view of the motor vehicles sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role in carrying out work tasks in the sector.

The following competence areas can be chosen in the Further Vocational Qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector: Competence area in Customer Services and Sales Work, Competence area in Vehicle Repair Services; Competence area in Damage Repairs, Competence area in Management or Competence area in Tyre Services.

Based on their job description, students choose the required units from the compulsory and optional units of the competence area so that the competence points total at least 150. Qualification holders are able to work in tasks that match their job description in the motor vehicle sector, developing their own vocational skills and the operation of their organisation.

Further Vocational Qualification in the Transport Sector

Valid from 1.1.2020

Qualification holders have an overall view of the transport sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role as a provider of customer-oriented services in the transport sector. Depending on the competence area, the services and the competence may be different transport services or tasks closely related to transports.

Qualification holders who have completed the competence area in Service transports, Goods transports, Forest industry transports and Transport of passengers are able to work as members of a team, promoting the profitability and smooth operation of the activities. They know now to work in depots and terminal areas built for different vehicles. They know the roadworthiness requirements of vehicles and the need for and importance of servicing of vehicles.

Qualification holders are able to drive, load and handle the load of the vehicle required in the chosen unit, master the equipment of the vehicle, the permits required for the type of transport and the drawing up of documents. They comply with the occupational safety regulations. Qualification holders know how to act in customer service situations. They use the required means of communication and information technology, can drive a car safely and economically and act according to regulations. Qualification holders master a proactive way of driving during different weather conditions and unexpected events and know how to act correctly in road traffic accidents and other accidents. They know the responsibilities and obligations of employees and employers.

Qualification holders who have completed the competence area in Supervision of work in the transport sector, have the competence needed in supervisory tasks in the transport sector. Qualification holders are able to work independently as supervisors, taking into account the acts, decrees and orders that regulate the transport sector. When working as supervisors, they comply with the principles of good supervisory work and management. They are able to plan and organise transport activities and resources in their area of responsibility cost-effectively and to a high standard, and they take into account occupational safety and health, risk management and human factors.

Specialist vocational qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector

Valid from 1.1.2019

The scope of the Specialist vocational qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector is 180 competence points. The qualification comprises four competence areas:

  • Competence area of First-Level Management in the Motor Vehicle Sector,
  • Competence area of Vehicle Repair Services,
  • Competence area of Damage Repairs and
  • Competence area of Customer Services and Sales Work.

Based on their competence area and job description, holders of the Specialist vocational qualification in the Motor Vehicles Sector have the vocational skills required to work in the sector. Qualification holders are able to work independently in the work tasks of the motor vehicle sector, taking into account the legislation, decrees and orders that regulate the sector. They carry out their work carefully and professionally. They know how to plan and organise the activities in their area of responsibility in a quality-conscious and cost-effective manner and comply with labour legislation, the regulations concerning occupational safety and the environment and other instructions concerning the quality management system and the work environment. Qualification holders have an overall view of the motor vehicles sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role in carrying out work tasks in the sector.

Candidates choose the required units from the compulsory and optional units of the competence area according to their job description so that the competence points reach the total of 180.

Vocational Qualification in Logistics

Valid from 1.8.2022

Holders of a vocational qualification in logistics who work in the logistics sector know how to operate and use different vehicles or machines and the equipment used for loading. They work safely and recognise and take into account occupational safety risks and hazards related to vehicles, machines and equipment in their work. Those working the logistics sector know how to use the digital applications of the sector.

Lorry drivers and articulated vehicle drivers work in a service profession and in their way of driving take into account how the load affects driving. They can act safely, economically and responsibly in traffic, anticipating different situations that occur in traffic. When loading and unloading, lorry drivers can use a forklift or a work machine and the equipment used for securing loads. They comply with occupational safety requirements and the occupational safety requirements and instructions of the customers of transport companies. They master safe transport in different kinds of areas, when loading or unloading the load of the vehicle. Drivers know how to perform the most common servicing and repair tasks and fault detection measures on machines, forklifts or vehicles.

Bus drivers and taxi drivers work in a service profession and take into account the passengers in their way of driving and other behaviour. They know how to act safely and responsibly in traffic, anticipating different situations that occur in traffic. In passenger transport, they know how to act in situations in which they meet customers. Drivers can drive a bus and a taxi in charter transport, in the services of city and regional transport, and on different routes in pupil, service and long-distance transport. They master the use of different payment devices and methods. Drivers know how to perform the most common servicing and repair tasks and fault detection measures on machines, forklifts or vehicles.

Service logistics workers work in different warehouses or terminals. They dispatch and receive goods, warehouse goods, and pack and gather together consignments. They know how to use material handling equipment, a forklift and equipment controlled with automation. Service logistics workers fill in and use a wide variety of documents related to warehousing and dispatching

Maintenance workers perform maintenance tasks in the airport territory in summer and in winter. They operate a wide variety of machines used in maintenance. Maintenance workers know how to perform the most common servicing and repair tasks and fault detection measures on machines, tractors or vehicles. They also know how to act in accordance with their role in rescue tasks at the airport.

Ground service workers perform work tasks related to loading and unloading aircraft. They operate the equipment used in loading, unloading and moving goods, such as a forklift, belt loader or deck loader. The work tasks are performed in compliance with aviation security regulations. Ground service workers perform fault detection, service and repair tasks on vehicles and forklifts.

Vocational qualification in the motor vehicles sector

Holders of a vocational qualification in the motor vehicles sector who have completed the competence area of sales work have the basic competence required in customer service and sales tasks. Qualification holders are able to work independently in customer service and sales tasks, taking into account the acts, decrees and regulations governing the sector. In the customer services and sales tasks, they take into account occupational safety, risk management and human factors. Qualification holders have an overall view of the motor vehicles sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role as a provider of customer-oriented services and sales work in the sector.

Candidates may specialise in the sales of vehicles, maintenance or spare parts. High-quality customer service and technical expertise have a key role in the competence area. Comprehensive sales services are provided every day. Candidates guide customers in selecting suitable financing and insurance options. They master customer-oriented business, communication and interaction. They know how to work in different digital environments and network professionally. Qualification holders have the abilities to maintain customer relationships and to develop the customer experience and new services.

Holders of a vocational qualification in the motor vehicles sector who have completed the competence area of damage repairs have the basic competence required in damage repair tasks in the sector. Qualification holders are able to carry out damage repair tasks in the motor vehicles sector, taking into account the acts, decrees and regulations governing the sector. In their work, they act carefully and observe the labour legislation, occupational safety and environmental regulations, and other instructions concerning the work environment. Qualification holders have an overall view of the motor vehicles sector, the opportunities it offers and their own role in carrying out damage repair services in the sector.

Candidates may specialise in vehicle painting or body repairs according to the qualification title they have chosen. Those specialising in vehicle painting know how to prepare the vehicle bodywork for painting, carry out basic and repair painting and surface treatment. Those specialising in body repairs know how to determine whether the collision damage can be repaired, find out the regulations related to the repairs and master the joining and dent repair methods required in their work. Qualification holders who have completed the competence area are able to select and use the tools and the correct techniques of the sector and select the right materials for each task. They ensure that the final result meets the requirements set for the work.
